The Gilmanton School District is located in Buffalo County.  The school district spans 36.3 square miles.  The school district enrolls approximately 187 students, predominantly Caucasian, and it has 18 staff members.

Gilmanton Elementary includes students age 4K-5th.  Gilmanton Junior and Senior High School includes students grades 6th-12th.  39% of the student population qualify for free and reduced lunch.  The Gilmanton Elementary School won the New Promise School award in 2003-04.  The Gilmanton Junior/Senior High won this award in 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2008-09.
